Strengthening Industrial Ties between Rio South Texas Region and Grupo Ramon Garcia Mexico
August 22, 2025To strengthen economic integration between Mexico and the Rio South Texas Region, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon hosted the Let’s Do Business in Texas event, where representatives from the economic development organizations of McAllen, Roma, Edinburg, Brownsville, Harlingen, and Laredo presented the region’s competitive advantages to local business leaders for strategic expansion.
The conference took place at the Grand Fiesta Americana Monterrey Valle, organized by COSTEP (Council for South Texas Economic Progress), in collaboration with institutional partners and experts in migration, real estate, and business installation.
During his remarks, Adam Gonzalez, CEO of COSTEP, highlighted that the Rio South Texas Region—which encompasses seven Texas counties and ten municipalities in Tamaulipas—represents a strategic platform for investors to expand, thanks to its robust logistics infrastructure, highly skilled workforce, and more than 140 industrial parks available.
Soft Landing, Migration, and Incentives for Expansion in Texas
One of the event’s central themes was providing practical guidance to facilitate business expansion in South Texas. Luis Cantú, partner at LPS International, explained how Texas has transformed its regulatory framework to become one of the most investment-friendly states in the U.S., pointing to its fiscal flexibility and cultural proximity with Mexico.
Attorney Javier Montaño, CEO of Montaño Miranda Law Office, outlined visa options available for Mexican entrepreneurs, clarifying common misconceptions and emphasizing that “with the E2 visa, investors can work in their own business and their spouse can also work legally in the U.S.”
Both experts agreed that successful expansion requires solid legal, fiscal, and migration planning before operations begin.
Industrial Real Estate and Logistics in Rio South Texas Region
The panel also featured Carlos Telles, Vice President at CBRE, who shared recommendations for selecting industrial properties according to each company’s line of business. Telles stressed that “the right location and effective negotiation can make the difference in a project’s profitability,” underlining the importance of working with specialized local brokers.
The Rio South Texas Region offers privileged logistics connectivity: 18 international border crossings, 9 airports, and access to key seaports, enabling companies to serve global markets with efficiency.
Beyond the conferences, the event provided a business roundtable and networking opportunities, with active participation from the economic development organizations of McAllen, Roma, Edinburg, Brownsville, Harlingen, and Laredo.
COSTEP and regional cities continue to promote initiatives such as Quick Tours, which allow entrepreneurs to visit industrial and commercial sites, learn about local incentives, and engage directly with city governments to facilitate their expansion.
“Now more than ever, the future of investment is binational. The Rio South Texas Region is ready to welcome talent, capital, and entrepreneurial vision from Mexico,” concluded Adam Gonzalez.
