
Port of Brownsville Reaches Historic Milestone with Completion of $500 Million Channel Deepening Project
June 26, 2026The Rio South Texas Region continues to strengthen its position as one of North America’s most competitive manufacturing hubs with a major industrial investment in Mission, Texas.
Global manufacturer Stanley Black & Decker has announced a more than $4 million expansion investment for its operations at Mission Expressway Business Park, reinforcing the region’s growing role in advanced manufacturing and cross-border production.
The investment will support the installation of a new assembly line, plastic injection molding capabilities, equipment modernization, and workforce development initiatives. The expansion will create 88 new permanent jobs while retaining 150 existing positions, increasing the company’s production capacity to better serve global markets.
After evaluating multiple locations across the United States, Stanley Black & Decker selected Mission for its expansion, highlighting the city’s competitive business environment and the collaborative efforts of regional and state economic development partners.
According to Teclo J. García, CEO of Mission Economic Development Corporation, the project reflects the continued strength of Mission’s manufacturing ecosystem and its contribution to the broader Rio South Texas Region.
“This investment creates jobs, expands production capacity, and generates long-term economic activity that benefits local families and strengthens our manufacturing sector.”
A study conducted by the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley estimates the expansion will generate an economic impact of approximately $24 million, further positioning Mission as a strategic destination for advanced manufacturing investment in South Texas.
