The Best and Affordable Quality of Life in Rio South Texas Region
August 27, 2025
Rio South Texas Region is present at the 32nd Annual Pathways for Trade Symposium, organized by the Laredo Economic Development Corporation.
August 28, 2025As part of the course “Updates in Foreign Trade and Compliance” organized by O&P Tax Consulting Group, Adam Gonzalez, CEO of COSTEP (Council for South Texas Economic Progress), presented the Rio South Texas Region Binational AutoCluster and its first strategic phase: the Rio South Texas Region Industrial DataSystem.
This digital platform is designed to position the region as a key hub for the automotive industry by leveraging the economic and logistical integration between Northern Tamaulipas and South Texas.
The Industrial DataSystem will consolidate detailed information on manufacturing companies across the region. It will allow stakeholders to identify key industrial sectors, map manufacturing processes and distinctive products, and generate a precise diagnosis of the regional manufacturing ecosystem.
According to Gonzalez, the tool will provide reliable data to investors seeking to understand what is produced in the region—strengthening Rio South Texas Region’s strategic promotion efforts. He invited companies to register through the dedicated form, highlighting that the active participation of all sectors will be essential to the success of this initiative.
“When we travel to cities in Europe or the northern United States to promote the region, the first questions investors ask are: What do you produce? What do you manufacture? Providing this information gives them a clear picture and greater confidence in our capabilities,” Gonzalez said.
During the session, companies also learned about the form available to join the database, which will not only strengthen regional promotion but also encourage local supply chain connections.
“This information will also be available for companies to consult. We’ve seen cases where businesses import parts from other countries, when in fact, capable suppliers exist right here in the same city. The problem is that they simply don’t know because the data is not accessible,” Gonzalez added.
The presentation was attended by leaders from Reynosa’s maquiladora sector, including Humberto Martínez, President of Index Nacional; Alfredo Guajardo, President of Index Reynosa; and Eduardo Pol Maldonado, Managing Partner and Tax Leader at O&P Tax Consulting Group. All encouraged companies to actively participate in this effort.
