Rio South Texas Region Expands Industrial Partnerships Through New Alliance with San Luis Potosí Automotive Cluster

As part of a trade mission conducted by representatives of the San Luis Potosí Automotive Cluster in the Rio South Texas Region, the Council for South Texas Economic Progress (COSTEP) and the Mexican business organization signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote economic, industrial, and commercial collaboration between both regions.

The agreement was signed by Adam González, CEO of COSTEP, and Luis Alberto González Olvera, Executive Director of the San Luis Potosí Automotive Cluster.

This binational economic region encompasses, on the U.S. side, the corridor stretching from Brownsville to Laredo, Texas, and on the Mexican side, from Nuevo Laredo to Matamoros, Tamaulipas, creating one of North America’s most strategic gateways for manufacturing, trade, and logistics.

The agenda provided firsthand exposure to investment opportunities, business expansion, talent development initiatives, logistics capabilities, and industrial collaboration prospects.

“This invitation to the San Luis Potosí Automotive Cluster is part of our ongoing outreach to automotive, aerospace, electronics, and medical device clusters throughout Mexico. We want them to visit the region and experience firsthand the opportunities available here,” said a COSTEP representative.

The Memorandum of Understanding establishes a framework for long-term cooperation focused on identifying joint projects, facilitating information exchange, and expanding networking opportunities between the business communities of both regions.

Both organizations emphasized the importance of working together to strengthen regional supply chains and expand participation opportunities for companies operating in both Mexico and the United States.

The San Luis Potosí Automotive Cluster delegation expressed its interest in continuing to develop joint initiatives with the Rio South Texas Region and extended an invitation to COSTEP representatives to participate in future business and supplier events in San Luis Potosí.

Representatives of the San Luis Potosí Automotive Cluster who participated in the mission included Ricardo Pérez, General Director of Indutermica; Fernanda Centeno, Commercial Coordinator at Logistik Industrial Park; Ricardo Jiménez, General Director of Electrotecnia Plus; Mauricio Galindo, Director of Strategic Projects and Innovation at Reis International; and Gustavo Duay, Commercial Director at Peasa.

Also participating in the mission was Sergio Gracia Badiola, President of Mexico Industry, contributing to efforts aimed at strengthening business connectivity, industrial promotion, and information exchange between the business communities of Mexico and the United States.

Through this alliance, COSTEP reinforces its strategy of positioning the Rio South Texas Region as a preferred partner for Mexican industrial clusters by leveraging the region’s logistics infrastructure, educational assets, workforce capabilities, and economic development ecosystem, further advancing cross-border competitiveness and long-term economic prosperity.
