Business Leaders Support the Launch of the Rio South Texas Region Binational Automotive Cluster
With strong support from Reynosa’s business community, the Rio South Texas Region Binational Automotive Cluster was launched. This powerful initiative, promoted by the Council for South Texas Economic Progress (COSTEP), seeks to position this binational region as a hub for the development of the automotive industry in North America.
Adam González, CEO of COSTEP, presented the cluster’s strategic vision, focused on aligning and connecting industrial capabilities between northern Tamaulipas and south Texas. He emphasized that this cross-border collaboration will attract greater investment, strengthen supply chains, and open new opportunities for the expansion of local and international companies.
One of the key announcements at the event was the launch of the Rio South Texas Region Industrial Data System, a digital tool designed to map manufacturing capabilities, identify key processes and products, and generate market intelligence to facilitate strategic investment decisions.
In addition to integrating critical information from the industrial ecosystem, the system will promote collaboration between companies, educational institutions, and local governments to spark innovation, training, and talent development in the region.
The event brought together prominent figures from the business, academic, and government sectors, including:
Luis Cantú, president of COBIFER; Eduardo Pol, managing partner of O&P Tax Consulting Group; Sergio Gracia, CEO of México Industry; Silvia Morales, representative of INEGI; Gricelda Elizondo, membership manager of BTA México; Patricia Zamarripa, vice president of outreach at CANACO; Gildardo López, president of CANACO Reynosa; Jeffrey Salcedo, business development manager at Edinburg EDC; Constantino Castillo Hinojosa, president of the Tamaulipas-Texas International Energy Cluster; Esthela Moreno, president of the Medical Tourism Business Council; Miguel Tinoco, director of IIES; Dulce Oliveros, director of COPARMEX; as well as representatives from TRANCASA, CIL, Tec Milenio, Holiday Inn Industrial Poniente, and the Security and Justice Roundtable.
The enthusiasm and active participation of attendees confirm that the Rio South Texas Region Binational Automotive Cluster is not only a commitment to industrial competitiveness, but a real platform for integration and joint growth.
