COSTEP and INDEX Nacional MOU Signing
October 18, 2025Port Laredo — the largest inland port in the United States and the #1 land port for U.S.–Mexico trade — will participate from October 16–18 in the Global Produce & Floral Show in Anaheim, California, one of North America’s most relevant exhibitions for the fresh produce, perishables, and cold-chain logistics industries.
The Port Laredo delegation will present its acclaimed campaign “Hot City, Cold Chain,” showcasing the port’s competitive advantages in refrigerated cargo handling and its unmatched capacity to maintain the most efficient cold chain between both countries.
“Laredo combines the energy and warmth of the border with cutting-edge refrigeration and logistics technology,” said Felipe Romero, Marketing Manager for Port Laredo. “Our goal is to connect with producers, exporters, and investors interested in strengthening their supply chains through faster, safer, and more sustainable solutions.”
The delegation includes representatives from the City of Laredo Economic Development Department, the Laredo International Bridges System, the Laredo International Airport, and key private and binational partners such as Garros Inc., the Nuevo Laredo Customs Brokers Association (ALFA), and CODEFRONT – Puerto Colombia–Laredo, joining forces to promote the region as a strategic logistics corridor for international trade.
Over three days, the Port Laredo team will highlight the advantages of the Laredo–Nuevo León–Tamaulipas–Colombia corridor, including:
• Over 20,000 commercial crossings daily
• 20 refrigerated warehouses with more than 1.5 million cubic feet of capacity
• Joint inspections between U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Mexico’s National Customs Agency (ANAM)
• Foreign Trade Zone 94 (FTZ 94) offering fiscal and operational incentives
• The Colombia–Laredo Bridge, featuring state-of-the-art infrastructure and next-generation logistics processes for international trade
“This participation reaffirms Laredo’s position as the logistics heart of North America and a key partner for Mexico’s agribusiness sector,” added Arnold Lozano, Economic Development Director. “Together with CODEFRONT and ALFA, we strengthen regional competitiveness and consolidate a united front in support of binational trade.”
Port Laredo’s presence in Anaheim is part of a broader strategy to position the port as a hub for cold-chain logistics, nearshoring, and cross-border investment, reinforcing commercial ties between Mexico and the United States.
