A New Home for Business Growth in Rio South Texas Region
October 26, 2026During a Texas Workforce Commission Skills Development Fund grant presentation at Rio Bank in McAllen, Texas, Alberto Treviño III, TWC Commissioner Representing Labor, highlighted how workforce training and regional partnerships support industrial growth and expand career opportunities.
The $169,087 investment will support training for 87 employees at ALPS Logistics, DENSO TEN, Emerson Tool, and Index Fresh in operational excellence, quality systems, and supply chain management.
Workforce Solutions Lower Rio Grande Valley serves as the grant recipient and coordinator, while UTRGV’s Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center develops and delivers the training.
For companies looking to expand and invest in the Valley, initiatives like this strengthen a strategic advantage: a region that connects workforce development with industry needs, helping businesses improve operations and prepare their teams to support continued growth.
For workers, this training creates opportunities to build new skills, take on greater responsibilities, and potentially earn higher wages, as Treviño noted.
This collaboration brings together businesses, educational institutions, community leaders, economic development organizations, and workforce boards, with efforts spanning the Lower Rio Grande Valley and Cameron County. Treviño also highlighted a recent regional workforce event where these organizations joined forces to prepare residents for employment opportunities coming to the region.
In Rio South Texas Region, attracting investment and preparing our people go hand in hand. Expanding here means joining a region working to turn industrial growth into lasting opportunity.
