June 25, 2026According to WorldCity’s 2026 Port Laredo Trade Numbers publication, Port Laredo reached a historic $353.94 billion in total trade during 2025, representing a 4.4% increase over its previous record in 2024 and a remarkable 71.63% recovery compared to 2020 levels during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The trade volume was composed of $126.83 billion in exports and $227.11 billion in imports, further consolidating Laredo’s role as one of the most important commercial gateways in North America.
Port Laredo has now achieved five consecutive years of record-breaking trade activity. Over the last decade, the port’s trade volume has grown by 72.9%, significantly outperforming the overall U.S. trade growth rate of 49.09% during the same period.
With nearly $354 billion in annual trade, Port Laredo ranks among the top three U.S. ports of entry and remains the nation’s leading land port. Its share of U.S.-Mexico trade is three times greater than any other port, underscoring its strategic importance to cross-border commerce and continental supply chains.
On the export side, Port Laredo ranked first nationally in ten of its top twenty product categories, including motor vehicle parts, diesel engines, electric storage batteries, electrical equipment, steel and iron products, refined copper, insulated wire and cable, plastic containers, engine components, and industrial valves.
Imports also demonstrated the port’s dominant position, ranking first nationally in thirteen of its top twenty categories. These included motor vehicle parts, insulated wire and cable, tractors, air-conditioning systems, electrical panels and switches, refrigerators and freezers, vehicle engines, seats, engine components, catalytic converters, silver, electric motors and generators, as well as tequila and other spirits.
As North America’s primary land gateway, Port Laredo continues to drive cross-border commerce, support advanced manufacturing, and strengthen the integrated supply chains that connect the economies of the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
